Big ivory will never stop being cool

A true Botswana giant

Happy Friday folk, Bradley Johnson here with a highlight from one of our clients. Earlier this year, Mark Whitley took an elephant with Nathan Askew of Bullet Safaris in Botswana. We all dream of ivory, this guy went out and made it happen

In his own words;

“I knew if I ever hunted an elephant, I wanted to give myself the best odds possible to hunt a true giant. My trip to Botswana in late May and early June of 2024 was just that. On the edge of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, we saw hundreds of elephants in the twelve days I hunted. Many bulls 55 plus pounds and several over 65 pounds. On day twelve, we caught up with my bull that wound up at 89.3 pounds each, 20” circumference, and over 6 feet each. A true old giant tusker. A side brain one shot end to the stalk at 12 yards. As you can see in the one picture I was scratching my head in disbelief afterwards. Nathan Askew of Bullet Safaris is a pro and deserves the credit for selecting the time and place for this adventure to make my dream a reality.”

I know I would likely feel like I won the damn lottery if I shot a bull like that….at 12 yards no less!

Hunting is conservation, Botswana certainly has no shortage of elephants. Odds are if you are on this email list you likely know that already but it needs to be said.

Without hunter’s dollars pumping into the local economy the whole of Africa would likely be a giant cattle farm interspersed with crop fields with the only wild areas being the national parks.

Taking it all in, a good death for an old warrior.
