Good evening! This week’s Friday from the field is landing on Sunday because the team was on a two day journey getting home from our Fantastic hunt in Australia with Big County Safaris in the Northern Territory.
The hunt was fantastic with everyone in camp taking multiple bulls of excellent quality.
This week we wanted to take the time to share a few travel tips we learned on this trip.
1. Before flying a new airline always book the lounge status.
On this trip Wyatt and myself flew Qantas which was an amazing airline. Before we left Wyatt signed us up to be able to use the Qantas lounges, this was a god send. Due to certain circumstances completely out of our control we ended up needing to stay in those lounges for long layovers.
2. Book a generous layover
On our connecting flight flying to and coming home from Australia we only had a 2.5 hour layover, I’m here to tell you…that was not enough time. When traveling with guns in Australia they must be cleared at the Border Force office and the international transfer to domestic terminals sometimes involved a bus ride to a completely different airport.
3. Drink Gin
On the off chance you did not book enough time and find yourself stuck in the lounge for the next 9 hours, gin is just good for the soul. Gin is also a necessity in camp for both celebrating a great hunt and forgetting a bad one, thankfully all we did was celebrate fantastic hunts all week.

Soon after I took this photo Wyatt said “we can do better” and proceeded to take one of the heaviest bulls on the trip.
